Looking Back to 2012

My blogfeed is full of posts from other photographer's I follow writing about their 2012 and I swore I would not do this, but...  I realized this week, as I began thinking about and entertaining my creative hopes for this next calendar year that I first had to look back at my work from this past year.

I am very proud of the work I produced and feel more than blessed to have worked with so many amazing couples - some of whom will be getting married this year!!! 2012 was my first complete year in business, and first full summer as a wedding photographer. I can see how I have grown as a photographer, artist and lover of Love through the images I created with each couple.

I am looking forward to 2013 and the possibilities that await me to grab ahold. I want to push myself as an artist, to continue creating images that capture the joyfulness and intimacy of committed relationships, to refine my business practices into a truly boutique studio experience, and to make reality some things that have too long remained a dream or idea. But until then, I will relish in the joy that remains from 2012.

MARRIED | Lisa and Norman

This post is so long overdue! Since it is one my goals for this new year to spend more time invested in my blog for both personal and business related reasons, what better way to kick this resolution off with a few highlights from Lisa and Norman's gorgeous fall wedding...

There is an old saying that rain on your wedding day is good luck, for it signifies blessings, unity, and new life. Blessings are usually synonymous with prosperity and good fortune; marriage is the unity of two lives into one new family.  If ever there was a wedding day that represented perfectly the good fortune of rain, it was Lisa and Norm's wedding.

Lisa and Norm's wedding was prosperous with their love of each other, with the love of their family and friends, and the love of their community, which is indicative of the support and generous encouragement in which their love was birthed, blossomed and will continue to thrive in. Their wedding was the unity of not just two individual lives, but the unifying of two families into one. Norm recalled, as he presented His daughters and Lisa's daughter with family rings that his eldest daughter at one time remarked that they were not officially a family until he and Lisa were married!! "Well," Norm said, "Now we are on family."

Lisa and Norm's wedding was peppered with fall inspired DIY details and included Norm's love for the local firefighting community). Between the well thought out table settings, handmade popcorn favors, homemade fall desserts,  woodsy escort cards, handmade wooden fire engine (made by Norm himself) and the home cooked roast dinner prepared and served by the local Fire Fighters Lisa, and Norm's wedding was their community's party of the year, and it was such a privilege to be their photographer!

Lisa and Norm, thank you so much for falling in love, for getting married, and for planning such as awesome party!! I hope these photos capture the joy, fun, excitement and beauty of your best day! Congratulations to you, to your girls and to your families, and I pray your new life together continues to receive a down-pouring of blessings!
