WEDDING | Shannon and Scott

One of my favourite moments captured from Shannon and Scott's wedding day was when they met at the alter. Shannon walked down the aisle with her Father and she was just beaming the whole time. She was radiant in her silver Maggie Sottero gown. As they approached the end of the aisle where Scott waited for them, Shannon's eyes began to sparkle. The fleeting moment when Shannon's Father placed her hand in Scott's was a privilege to watch. There is something so meaningful in this tradition of giving one's daughter away to the man she has chosen to build a life with; this moment represents trust, pride and letting go.

Shannon and Scott's ceremony was a traditional Catholic wedding mass with scripted vows read by the Priest and repeated by Shannon and Scott. So when their friend and MC took the mic at the reception he wasted no time in having them re-do their vows with more personal words. He lead them through promises which included Shannon vowing to never say anything about Scott's love for the game of washers, and Scott vowing to always be okay when one bottle of wine was not enough for Shannon. The laughter that ensued amongst family and friends was indicative of how perfect this personal set of vows was for the newlyweds. Another highlight of the wedding was the heartfelt speeches and toasts delivered by their families. Most specifically the speeches given by their parents. These are the ones the always catch my breath when parents beam with pride and thanksgiving that their son or daughter has found such a wonderful partner to share their life with. Shannon's and Scott's parents were both full of the praise for the one who captured their child's heart.

I prayed all week long that the forecasted rain for Saturday's wedding would stay away. I wanted Shannon and Scott's wedding day to be perfect and for their portrait time to be dry. Thankfully, the rain stayed away though it was so cold, and I am so grateful to Shannon and Scott and their crazy-awesome Bridal party for braving the chilly temperatures we could create some great images for them!

Congratulations Shannon and Scott!! Thank you so much for choosing me to capture your best day! i wish you both the happiest life together filled with lots of washers, wine, laughter and babies!!

Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May

PORTRAITS | Rachelle and Jeremy

A couple weeks ago I got together with friends Rachelle and Jeremy for a little photoshoot. I wanted to practice some composition, directing and image ideas, as well as practice with using natural reflectors. It was super cold outside so we found a little corner indoors with loads of natural light pouring in.

My camera loved photographing these two. They are beautiful inside and out!

Happy Thursday!

Love and Sunshine,
