{portraits} moh & shell

when i announced that i would be in vancouver bc during the christmas holidays, shell immediately contacted me to ask if i was available to photograph her and her husband moh. this was a special time in their lives and they really wanted to document their first christmas together in canada. i was more than excited to say "yes!!"

the more i do this, the more i realize how much i love working with couples, whether they for their engagement, wedding day, anniversary, maternity or to simply celebrate the everyday, i love photographing couples!! it is a privilege to watch them interact as our session unfolds and they can focus on loving one another and enjoying the time set apart to simply be together.

but you want to know why i really love photographing couples, it's because of that look... you know the one i am talking about right? the one that says "you are my best friend and i trust you with every bit of myself and my heart. i still can't believe i'm yours and you're mine." it is usually a split second look that occurs when one partner is looking away or talking about something and the other is following what is is being said with pride... oh.em.gee. my favourite!! this lightbulb moment occurred during shell and moh's portrait session... shell knocked "the look" out of the ball park. see for yourself below...

this is it {below}!! this is the look! that wonderful, all knowing, all loving look!!!

sometimes i think about moving back to vancouver just to i can shoot at locations like this... but then i remember how many more amazing places the east coast has!! haha!

{personal} maxwell eats a cookie

every christmas i make chocolate chip cookies for my family. this is pretty much the only time of year that i make chocolate cookies and i usually wrap up a more than a few dozen for each of brothers in order to satisfy their cravings knowing that the many-months supply will last only a week or so!! it is actually really flattering knowing that my brothers look forward to finding them under the tree!!

this year, the tradition was passed onto maxwell. on christmas day, maxwell not only ate his first chocolate chip cookie ever... but he ate none other than aunty shannon-may's chocolate cookie!!! this made me feel like a really awesome aunty, especially since i get to share very few moments with this little guy.

here is the moment as i witnessed it!

"all gone?"

{maternity} candice and mike

good things come to those who wait. who persevere. who trust that God will do great things in His time.

for more than two years, candice and mike waited for the little stick to turn pink with a plus sign. i still remember when candice called me back in july to tell me. she had only just found out a day or two before and i am pretty sure i squealed in her ear when she told me the happy news that she was pregnant! it had been a long journey for candice, wrought with tears and questions. but she persevered with grace, determination and strength, and those who know candice would have expected nothing less.

when i was home last winter i remember watching both candice and mike with their friend's little boy. the delight and pure joy that were all over their faces was evident at how much they wanted to be parents, and left no questions that they would be the best parents! the love they have to give away to their own little "nugget" is limitless.

it was so thrilling to see candice in her pregnant glory! candice... i have never seen you more beautiful.

the following image is my absolute favourite.
