{PUBLISHED} Inspiration for Fall and Winter Weddings

Sarah Redmond (of Celebrations by Sarah) and I both long to see this beautiful Charlotte Coastal Region utilized to it's full glory. We are lucky to live in an area rich with natural beauty and artistic tradition but I  think people in other parts of the Maritimes, Canada and the World are not in the know about it!! We are, in some regards, Canada's best kept secret ;) But the secret is out!  I am so happy to share with you that Borrowed & Bleu, a wedding blog devoted to inspiring one of a kind weddings has published a fall inspired wedding shoot that Sarah and I worked on together, along with a whole creative team of local businesses!!

Given our passion for weddings and desire to see brides and grooms create marriage celebrations that truly reflect their values and passions and are full of details and decor elements that represent who they are, we seek to find ways to encourage our brides and grooms to think outside the box when planning their wedding. Therefore when we decided to plan a fall inspired wedding shoot we sought to turn fall on its head and be as none traditional as possible, which led to this cozy and wooly wedding theme with a blue and green colour palette and rich with details made by local handycraft artists. We chose Ganong Nature Park as our location, where the apply orchard is a perfect for photos as the light softens...

This is the first inspiration shoot we developed together with the goal of putting Charlotte Coastal Region on the wedding location map! And I am so pleased to finally be able to share it with you!

Thank you to the amazing creative team I had the honour of working with:

Event Planning and Concept: Sarah Redmond, Celebrations By Sarah
Hairpiece and other handicrafts: The Wizard of Felt
Decor and Table Linens: The Cottage Craft
Wooly Details: The Wool Emporium

And THANK YOU to Sharon and Clinton for being such great models... could you be any more gorgeous?

Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May

{PORTRAITS} Shelley

I walked into the kitchen at church to return my coffee mug and gleefully greeted my friend Shelley, who was standing at the sink washing dishes. There must have been something in my voice that made Shelley think I already knew her news.

If anyone knows anything about me, I am usually the last to know anything about anyone else's good news. This may or may not have something to do with my Enneagram type (apparently we fours tend to be a little bit self-absorbed but I don't believe it!!) but I think it has more to do with the fact that some people still think we live in a culture with oral traditions and that good news naturally travel fast!! Anywho, I digress.

Shelley, hands still in soapy water, asked me excitedly/announces her news, "Shannon, do you know that I am pregnant?" "WHAT??" was my response as I drop my mug into the soapy water and began to hug her!! "This is the best news ever!!!" And it was the best news.

Last week I offered to do some maternity shots for Shelley so that she could share (via Facebook) her growing belly with family and friends all over the world. We laughed alot, and I think these photos really capture the joy she feels as she and her husband Kendall prepare to welcome their wee little man into this world!! Can't wait to meet you Baby Boy K!!

For some reason, more often than not, I am simply in awe of Shelley whenever I see her and baby belly!! As the following photos really show, she is simply rocking the pregnant look so I am thinking she should do this a few more times!!! (PS: gotta love lens flare - I really do actually!!!).
