{family} jaret, tiffany and bryce

i first met tiffany when i was in her salon photographing the getting ready portion of a recent wedding. we met again when she agreed to do the hair for an inspired wedding shoot i was photographing. so, i was super delighted when she contacted me to photograph her beautiful young family!!

this has been a big year for them. jaret and tiffany welcomed their first child, sweet little bryce and only a few short months later tiffany opened her own salon! it was a real privilege to spend sometime with them all, and to be able to create a space for them to have some lasting family moments captured!!

here are some of my favourite pictures from our photo session at ganong nature park!! when we first met up at the park, bryce had fallen asleep in his seat so i took advantage of the time and shot some "romantic" moments of tiffany and jaret!! oh la, la!

{engaged} zack & selina

they made it official under a tree in the woods near her grandparent's house when zack nervously asked selina if she would be his girlfriend. it was during their second year of university and their friendship had blossomed into something that had eternity written on it. nearly two years later, zack took selina back to that tree and nervously asked her to be his wife. though she was tempted to say "no" just to get a reaction out of him, selina joyfully "yes!!" and i imagine zack breathed a great sigh of relief!

i love the thought and detail they put into their engagement session. it is peppered with elements that are personal and meaningful: the vintage suitcase [a family hierloom] that selina gave zack, the quilt selina's aunt made for her, a bottle of their favorite wine that they discovered last summer in europe, and their all time favourite game to play with one another: scrabble. but what i loved most is how they laughed together, a part of their relationship that selina, herself, loves. she wrote to me saying that she "loves that zack is always making her laugh. no matter how tough her day is, he always succeeds in coaxing a smile or two out of her. " this is so apparent to anyone who spends any amount of time with them!!

it is such a pleasure to know these two, and to see how their affection and respect for one another has blossomed over the past two years. zack and selina will be graduating university this coming april and will married in august. i am so looking forward to see what God has planned for them as they enter this new stage in life and become husband and wife.

{personal} a full cuppa life

i am routinely surprised these days at how my life is surpassing my expectations, and in some ways moving faster than i am even prepared for.  or maybe it appears to be moving faster than i imagined because with each new experience i am presented with and each new step i take towards the things that i have long thought about, i am having to face fears that i have been blissfully ignorant of!

typical shannon-may behaviour would be to cowardly retreat into my shell like a scared little turtle, hoping for the parts of life that seem too hard to face would pass me by. the problem with this, as i have lived through experience, is that life actually does pass me by! and where does this leave me? feeling like i have a half-full cup of life. this is no longer true for me. instead i am learning to stay strong [though sometimes i may pull my head into my turtle just a wee bit}, and in doing so, i am experiencing a full cuppa life!

thank you for reading my ramblings and being apart of my journey. and because every post is better with a photo, here is a picture of my favourite new coffee mug!
