PORTRAITS | Carolyn and Jeff

I am so excited to share Carolyn and Jeff's one year anniversary photos with you! And I am making the post short and sweet as I am about to head to the airport to fly home to BC in anticipation of my newest nephew's birth!!

Last year, around the first week of September I received an email from Carolyn, asking if I was available to shoot her wedding... at the end of that month!! There was no time for engagement photos so we agreed on Anniversary photos instead! So this past Thanksgiving weekend, Carolyn and Jeff and I met up at the Ganong Nature Park and spent a couple of hours catching up while I photographed this beautiful couple! They drove up in Carolyn's Dad's corvette, which made an appearance in their wedding pictures, as well as brought their two little boys along for a few family photos before handing the wee ones off to their grandparents. I loved photographing these two again. Carolyn was just bubbling with joy, just like on her wedding day and embraced the experience of being in front of camera, just like on their wedding day!!!

Enjoy these anniversary photos!!

ENGAGED | Brittney and Jonathan

Brittney and Jonathan's story is the perfect example of why I really love hearing about how two people met and began the relationship that would change their life for the better. Their's is the story of the match-making Aunty who knew the perfect girl from her work who should meet her nephew who just moved to town. It is the story of two people not really wanting to be set up, cause you know how those things always turn out, but do it anyway. It is the story of two people standing outside in the cold one winter evening not wanting to end the conversation. And their's is the story of two people who just know it is right that they are together and have moved quickly to knit their individual lives into one.

When it came time to propose, Jonathan planned a proposal that was personally meaningful to Brittney that included her deep commitment to and love for her family. I have tried to paraphrase Brittney's recounting of their engagement but ultimately it is best told as written by Brittney:

"Jonathan has known from a very early point in our relationship that it bothered me that my Nan would never meet him, and also that he would never meet her. Earlier in the winter I had been out to the cemetery and put out a solar Christmas globe, but couldn't tell any of the times we had driven by if it was lit or not. Every time we drove by I said I should have brought my boots and walked up in there to see if it was still standing, but it never happened. On New Years Eve, we had planned to go to Mom and Dad's as they normally have a little get together. Jonathan picked me up from work, and on the way to Mom and Dad's he pulled into the cemetery. Since it was raining he thought we could walk in with umbrellas because there was no snow on the ground. I got out of the car and started in with Jonathan not far behind. We got in so far, and couldn't get any further. As we turned to go back to the gates, I noticed he had soemthing behind his back. Me being me asked what it was. He handed me a bouquet of flowers and I was thrilled. We kept walking along and I was unknowingly carrying the ring. When we got out side of the gate he reached over and grabbed the ribbon on the flowers and untied the ring.  He got down on one knee (in a puddle), and asked if I would marry him."

Brittney and Jonathan will be getting married in May 2013 and are planning rather large traditional wedding and I could not be more thrilled to be a part of their day, and to be apart of their continuing story. A story of two people content with and have found life together in the simple ebb and flows of daily life.  A story of two people who believe in each other and encourage their individual and mutual interests. And story of two people who "know that at the end of the day there is always going to be someone that is on your side, makes any day better."

I hope these images make you smile!

Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May
