st. stephen portrait session:: esther

this past Wednesday morning was spent photographing the lovely Esther, a sweet, artistic sixteen year old who I got to know during a theatre production I produced for St. Stephen's University Theatre Company in which Esther had a starring role! she is funky, stylish and beautiful, therefore capturing glamorous and unique shots of her was all but easy.

we began the morning with coffee (me) and hot chocolate (Esther) at an awesome new bistro in St. Stephen, before heading out to our first location, which consisted of railway tracks nearby a field of wild flowers and tall grass. our time together was a blend of planned poses and surroundings, and spontaneous moments of laughter and flare and locations that Esther suggested as we wrapped up at another. Thanks to Esther,  I now know of a beautiful abandoned heritage home that has been consumed by time and nature; Esther also took me to this spot in St. Stephen where land meets water and we were able to get some great shots of her on a bank overlooking the St. Croix River.

I learned a few things from this photo session: 1> St. Stephen, NB (all of New Brunswick for that matter) is rich in natural, untouched (and even undiscovered) beauty 2> people are the most beautiful to photograph when they are comfortable and free to be themselves in front of the camera! (it is my goal as a photographer to provide these kinds of portrait experiences).
