[engagement] craig and sarah

i've said it before and i'll say it again and again [and again], love hits when you least expect it, often accomapanied by the "right place at the right time" kind of phenonmenon! and this was definitely the case for sarah and craig. sarah was living in ontario and craig, a fifth generation lobster fisherman from deer island new brunswick, was only in town for an unexpected stay when his vehcile broke down mid-road trip to somewhere else! when they met, fireworks exploded and sarah thought to herself "why does he have to live in new brunswick?!" obviously her initial thought was no deterant because within a short time sarah was packing up to move to st. andrews to be close to craig! is this for real?!

for their engagement pictures, it was really important to craig to encorporate his family's heritage and love of the ocean, so we started out shooting at his parent's property, followed by some time spent in this amazing old boat building shop where the light was ever-so-inspiring and lit up dust particles like fairy dust! and [as if it wasn't already amazing enough!] we ended the session on his family's fishing boat while crusing around the bay of fundy as the sun set! yup. and if you are wondering, why yes i was in a little dingy boat at one time, and no i was not scared at all!! after exclaiming "omg, wtf" i happily stepped into boat and proceeded to giggle the whole time i was photographing sarah and craig from afar!!

i met sarah last april when we connected as business contacts [sarah is a wedding planner in st. andrews] but we have become fast friends, and i was so overjoyed when she asked me to be her wedding photographer!!  i cannot wait for their wedding next august .seriously i cannot wait. if you think the engagement session they planned is pretty spectacular, just imagine the wedding: think open sea, tall ship and fresh lobster. that's all i'm saying!

love & sunshine,
shannon-may
