ENGAGED | Danielle and Kevin

Love is what happens when you take chances.  At least this is how Danielle and Kevin's story began at the Happinez Wine Bar.

Kevin had been admiring the lovely Danielle all evening, but before he mustered up the courage to make his move he and his friends decided to move their party to another bar nearby. Their love story had ended before it even began. However there was something Kevin saw in Danielle and thus could not get her out of his mind.. He knew he had to go back. And he did. He  bravely walked up to this gorgeous  girl with the kind smile, and they spent the rest of the night drinking wine and talking.

Earlier this year, while vacationing in Scotland, Kevin took another chance.  It was a beautiful day in the Scottish town of Troon, and Danielle and Kevin were out walking the waterfront. While taking a break to sit on a stone wall that overlooked the ocean, Kevin asked Danielle to marry him. That I am writing this out now is evidence that Danielle said yes!!

I sometimes ask my couples what are some of the greatest challenges they have faced and overcome together. I ask this because these challenges are equally important to one's love story as the highlights, and equally indicative of the  threads that bind together two lives. For Kevin and Danielle, one of the greatest challenges that they have faced is the geographical distance between them.  They work an hour and half away from each other and live in different towns, which makes it hard to spend time together. The traveling can be tiring and scheduling time to be together proves difficult at times. But they make it work because they are important to each other and value the relationship they have - a relationship that feels comfortable, feels right, and leads to fun times regardless of what they are doing or where they are.

I am so looking forward to Daniella and Kevin's June 2013 wedding for a number of reasons. Firstly, they are just good people; when I first met Danielle at our consultation and we began chatting I knew right away I wanted to be her wedding photographer, and then I enjoyed so much talking with both Danielle and Kevin as we spent time together during their engagement shoot - I know we are going to have a lot of fun together on their wedding day. Second, if their engagement clothing choices are any indication of the attention to detail going into their wedding planning, I know it is going to be a visually inspiring wedding celebration! And lastly, Danielle makes the best cupcakes I have ever tasted and I am secretly hoping she will have some of her cinnamon bun cupcakes on hand (wink, wink).

Until June, enjoy these highlights from their engagement session and bask in the love that began when Kevin took a chance!

Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May
