{1000 GIFTS} Words to Live by.

Last week I was reminded of something that not only encouraged me but has been my lifeline the past seven days. Simply put, at the end of everything, Love is what remains.

The last few weeks as I have strived to develop my business and set in motion the things I need in order to build and sustain a successful business I have struggled to hold to the purpose behind what I do... a purpose that is beyond making myself happy. I am surrounded by people who work in international development, who are raising children, educating others, providing life-giving care to others, and so-on and I sometimes question the value that a photographer or photography adds to another's life (I often struggle with purpose and living a purposeful life for others).

And then my friend read from 1 Corinthians 13:

We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!
But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. (1 COR 13:12-13, The Message).

I am not much of a cryer, but as Hannah read the words love extravagantly the welling of emotion that arose in me was hard to ignore... and so was the voice within, reminding me that to Love is the greatest purpose of all.

This past week, those words have been words to live by.

29. "... and the greatest of these is love."

Happy Easter. May the Love of God be ever felt in your heart and your lives.

Love & Sunshine,
Shannon-May
